ABOUT ME
I help organizations move beyond translation and build cultural connection with Spanish-speaking communities.
I’m Dr. Joyce Senior Angulo—a bilingual (Spanish/English) consultant, proud Afro Latina from Costa Rica, and co-founder of My Hair My Health PDX, a nonprofit advancing culturally grounded wellness for Black women and communities in Oregon.
For over 15 years, I’ve worked at the intersection of language, culture, and community engagement. With a PhD in Nutrition Education and a PMP® certification, I’ve helped mission-driven organizations connect authentically with Spanish-speaking communities through equity-focused program design, strategic communications, and inclusive leadership.
Here’s the reality: Many organizations today rely on AI translation tools or traditional translators. But both approaches often miss the same thing—cultural fluency.
That’s where I come in.
Through my consulting practice, I help colleges (and organizations in workforce development and community outreach) ensure their Spanish-language messaging isn’t just accurate—it’s culturally fluent, relevant, and trusted.
Because words can translate. But only cultural fluency makes them connect.

I’m also co-founder and Deputy Director of My Hair My Health PDX, a health equity nonprofit advancing culturally grounded wellness for Black women and families in Oregon.
